As a design enthusiast, I have had the privilege of exploring various design technologies during my tenure at Parsons. Below are some of the projects I have undertaken that have helped sharpen my design skills, passion and dedication towards my creative practice.
Remembrance is a projection mapping project that draws its inspiration from the feelings of nostalgia and longing for home. The project aims to capture the essence of the experience of driving in India, and the emotions that it evokes.
The aesthetic brief for the project is centered around the concept of "organised chaos." The project seeks to explore the feeling of driving in India, where traffic rules are often ignored, and the roads are characterized by a sense of disorder and unpredictability. The goal is to create an abstract representation of this experience, using geometric structures and animated lines to convey the energy and intensity of the driving experience. The use of geometric structures is key to the project's visual aesthetic. These structures are arranged in an abstract manner, forming a map of India that serves as the canvas for the projection mapping. The shapes are carefully selected to create a sense of order and symmetry, while also conveying a feeling of dynamic movement and fluidity.
The use of animated lines is also a critical component of the project's visual language. These lines represent the numerous times the drivers would turn on their indicator while overtaking another driver. The lines are also used to convey a sense of speed and motion, while also creating a visual language that is both abstract and familiar.
Overall the project conveys the energy, intensity, and sense of order amidst chaos.
