As a design enthusiast, I have had the privilege of exploring various design technologies during my tenure at Parsons. Below are some of the projects I have undertaken that have helped sharpen my design skills, passion and dedication towards my creative practice.
Balancing Blocks is a project that explores the creative possibilities of TouchDesigner, a powerful visual programming language used for real-time interactive media installations and performances. The project is a playful experiment with different shapes and animations, exploring how they can interact and balance with each other in a dynamic and aesthetically pleasing way.
At its core, it is a simple concept: a set of virtual blocks that are arranged in different configurations and animated to create a mesmerising visual display. The blocks themselves are simple geometric shapes, such as cubes, cylinders, and spheres, which are rendered in a range of vibrant colours and textures. The animation of the blocks is the key to the project's success. Using TouchDesigner's capabilities, the blocks are programmed to move and rotate. The project's aesthetic brief is centered around the idea of balance and harmony.
The blocks are arranged in such a way that they appear to be delicately balanced on top of each other, defying gravity and creating a sense of wonder and amazement. The colours and textures of the blocks are carefully chosen to create a cohesive and harmonious visual palette, with complementary hues and patterns that complement each other.
